The Ordinary Retinol 0.2%

The Ordinary Retinol 0.2% in Squalane is the lowest of the brand's three retinol strengths and the one to start with if you have never used a retinoid. It is a water-free serum: pure retinol carried in squalane, with no water, no alcohol and no fragrance.

Retinol is a cosmetic form of vitamin A used to work on the look of fine lines, uneven texture and uneven tone over time. Because it can be drying, the squalane base matters here, adding a light, non-greasy layer of moisture that helps the skin stay comfortable while it adjusts.

How to use: in the evening only. Apply a few drops to dry skin after any water-based serums and before creams, avoiding the eye and lip area. Start two or three nights a week and increase only as your skin tolerates it. Some dryness or flaking early on is normal. Wear sunscreen every morning while using it.
