The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2%

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% is a leave-on beta hydroxy acid treatment for oily and congested skin. Salicylic acid is oil soluble, which is what separates it from AHAs: it can work inside the pore rather than only on the surface, so it suits blackheads, whiteheads and the kind of bumpy congestion that does not respond to surface exfoliation.

At 2% it sits at the standard cosmetic strength for a leave-on BHA. Used regularly it works on the look of clogged pores and uneven texture, and the finish is matte rather than tacky.

How to use: in the evening, on clean, dry skin. Apply a small amount either across congested areas or directly onto individual spots, avoiding the eye area and the corners of the mouth. Start a few times a week and increase only as tolerated. Do not stack it with other strong acids or a retinoid in the same routine. Wear sunscreen every morning.
